Audition: Romeo and Juliet: R&J
Audition: Romeo and Juliet: R&J
Written by William Shakespeare
Directed by: Travis Bedard
Romeo and Juliet is one of the most performed texts in the history of stage. there’s literally one in town rehearsing right now, why do it again?
1. Because it’s great. 2 Another chance for performers and audiences to spend time with great plays is great, and 3. if one wants to experiment one needs a known quantity. We are taking on a deeply known text, the most famous love story ever told, as our constant so that we can let performers assume roles they normally wouldn’t be allowed to perform and truly make them their own.
We’re going to focus on honest scene work and a dedicated ensemble to breathe life into the Verona that surrounds this love tragedy through Poor Theatre style techniques and leverage the intimacy that Broom Street Theatre offers so that audiences feel like they are living these moments with us.
The lead roles for this show are cast.
We are auditioning for 4-5 ensemble roles that will involve movement and likely some stage combat (staff/club). These roles do not have a lot of lines but will be very active in helping to build/perform the world of the play.
