Our Home States 2026 – Mountain Edition Call for Submissions

Broom Street Theater has been road-tripping the United States one region at a time since 2023 by curating a short play festival featuring stories about each of our “united” states. Previous installments have featured the Midwest, the Northeast, and the Pacific regions. This year, we’re heading into the Mountain States. We are accepting short plays connected to one of these states:

Arizona
Colorado
Idaho
Montana
Nevada
New Mexico
Utah
Wyoming

What we’re looking for:
Plays should be up to 10 minutes long (shorter is preferred).
Stories rooted in, haunted by, or unfolding in one of the states above
You don’t have to live there, just bring us a story that belongs there
How to submit:
Fill out the Google Form
Attach your script to an email and send it to submissions@bstonline.org with the subject line: [State Name] Title of Play (If you can’t use the form, just email the script; the form helps us stay organized.)
What you get:
Each selected play will be produced in Madison, Wisconsin as part of Broom Street Theater’s 2026 production of Our Home States. Playwrights will receive a $25 honorarium.
Deadline: February 28, 2026.

Playwrights may submit up to two scripts.
