For God’s sake, let us sit upon the ground
And tell sad stories of the death of kings…
Directed by Christopher William Wolter
Madison Shakespeare Company launches the Henriad with Shakespeare’s most lyrical history. This exploration of rulership, identity and consent challenges us to examine the origins of authority and political power.
Richard II will be performed February 17-March 11 at Broom Street Theater.
“The Full Treatment” is a wicked, dark, corporate comedy full of wordplay. The play concerns a trio of job-seekers at massive Peppercock Industries. Inside the massive front door is the luxurious domain of the CEO, Lonnie Peppercock. What’s the door separating you from the 1%? What’s it like inside that door? What do you have to give up to get inside? To stay inside?
Doug Reed is a longtime Broom Street Theater stalwart, author of “Sweet William”, “The Nails”, and “The Lamentable Tragedie Of Scott Walker”.
Jay Shearer teaches writing and literature at the University of Illinois at Chicago, and is the author of the novel “Five Hundred Sirens”, as well as a novelette and many short stories and essays. “The Full Treatment” is his first full-length play.
